Most of our flake floors go down in a single day: moisture test, diamond grinding, crack repair, base coat, full flake and a clear UV-stable top coat. Here's what that day looks like, what one day does and doesn't cover, and when a floor takes longer.
Yes, and it isn't a shortcut. Our flake floors are built with poly coatings that cure in hours instead of days, so the layers set fast enough to finish the floor in a single working day.
The prep is the same as on any floor we coat. We test the slab, diamond-grind it, repair the cracks and build the floor in four layers. Nothing gets trimmed to make the schedule.
Two of our four systems are one-day floors: flake and solid colour. Metallic and quartz floors are multi-day builds. If something about your slab will stretch the schedule, like heavy repair, an old coating to remove or a moisture barrier, you'll hear it at the free visit, not on install day.

One day is the install. The coating keeps curing after we leave. That distinction matters, because it's the part some one-day ads skip.
It comes down to chemistry, not hustle. Plain epoxy cures slowly, and most garage epoxies want several days before a car can sit on them.
Polyaspartic and polyurea cure in hours rather than days, which is what lets us build all four layers of a flake floor in one visit. Exact walk-on and park-on times depend on the temperature and humidity, and we give you yours before we leave.
A Tallahassee summer makes these coatings set even faster, which shortens the working time once they're mixed. That's one more reason they're a crew's product and not a weekend kit. Read the full epoxy vs. polyaspartic comparison, or what polyaspartic floor coating is.

Here's the day for a typical two-car garage with a flake floor. A bigger garage runs longer; the order never changes. Our installation process page has the same steps in more detail.
We check the slab with a Wagner C555 moisture meter, protect the walls and doorways, and diamond-grind every square foot, edges included. Grinding opens the concrete so the coating bonds into it. It's most of the labor on the job.
Cracks are chased out and filled, chips and spalls are patched, and everything is ground flush. The coating follows the shape of the slab, so anything not fixed now shows later.
The base coat goes down, a moisture vapor barrier base where the slab calls for it, then the poly colour coat. Flake is broadcast into it while it's wet, to full coverage, which hides the small flaws in the concrete and gives the floor texture.
Once the flake has set, the loose flake is scraped and vacuumed, and any low spots are filled. Then the clear, UV-stable top coat goes on: the layer your shoes and tires touch.
We walk the floor with you and give you the cure times for that day's conditions: when you can walk on it, when the car can come back, and when to bring heavy things back in.

Speed depends on the system. Here are all four, with the layer counts and install times we work to.
| System | Layers | Install time |
|---|---|---|
| Flake | Poly base → poly + colour → flake broadcast → poly top (4) | One day |
| Solid colour | Base → colour → top coat (3) | One day |
| Metallic | Base → metallic → top coat (3) | Multi-day |
| Quartz | Base → colour → quartz → clear → quartz → top coat (6) | Multi-day |
Metallic floors are hand-worked and sealed with Rockhard T2000, and quartz is a double broadcast with a clear coat in between; both need more time between layers. Every system is on our services page.
The day only works if the slab is ready and the garage is empty when we pull up. Four things to know.
Cars, bikes, bins, the second fridge and freestanding shelves all come out. Leave the driveway clear for our equipment.
A brand-new slab needs a proper cure, typically 28 days at least, before any coating goes on. If your pour is fresh, we plan the install for after that.
Garage work happens under a roof, so a summer thunderstorm doesn't stop the day. What matters is the moisture inside the slab, and that's what the meter reads.
We'll tell you before we leave when it's safe to drive back in. Until then, the driveway is the garage.
For our flake and solid colour systems, yes, on most floors. Testing, grinding, crack repair, the base and colour coats, the flake broadcast and the clear top coat all happen in one visit, because the poly coatings we use set in hours. Metallic and quartz floors are multi-day builds.
It depends on the temperature and humidity that day, so we don't guess in advance. Before we leave, we walk the floor with you and tell you when you can walk on it, when you can park on it and when to bring heavy things back in.
Done properly, yes. Durability comes from grinding the concrete, handling moisture and building the system correctly, not from how many days it took. Every floor we install carries the same written 10-year warranty against delamination.
No. Diamond grinding is part of every floor we coat, and it's the step that decides whether any coating holds. Crews that make one day by acid-etching instead of grinding are the reason one-day floors have a bad name in some places.
Garage work happens under a roof, so rain outside isn't the issue. The moisture inside the slab is, and we measure it with a Wagner C555 meter. Outdoor slabs like patios and pool decks are a different story and need dry weather.
Plain epoxy usually needs days to cure before a car can sit on it. What goes down in a day is our flake system, built with fast-curing poly coatings and finished with a UV-stable poly top coat.
Choosing a metallic or quartz floor, heavy crack or spall repair, an old coating that has to come off, or a very large space. We look at the slab at your free visit and tell you the schedule then.
The same as any floor we install: the price comes from the size of the space, the condition of the concrete and the system you choose. Speed isn't a line item. You get one clear price in writing at the free visit.
Tell us the size of the garage and whether it's ever been coated. We'll test the slab, tell you whether it's a one-day floor and give you one clear price in writing. No pressure to book.
