Why our system is different

A System Built to a Different Standard.

Most contractors pour off-the-shelf epoxy. We test the slab before we commit to a system, grind it instead of etching it, and seal every floor with a UV-stable top coat — the same standards on a single-car garage as on a whole-house floor.

  1. Moisture-tested first

    Every slab is checked with a Wagner C555 moisture meter before we choose a system.

  2. MVB base where it matters

    Kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor areas most often get a moisture vapor barrier base coat that bonds deeper into the slab to prevent delamination.

  3. Diamond-ground, never etched

    Mechanical grinding opens the concrete so the base coat bites in. No acid-etching shortcuts.

  4. Full-broadcast flake

    Flake broadcast to rejection, for built-in texture and slip resistance across the whole floor.

  5. Poly top coat, always

    Every system is sealed with a UV-stable, chemical-resistant poly top coat for a gloss that lasts.

The build

The System, Layer by Layer.

A flake floor is four layers, each with one job. Read from the concrete up, this is what's under your feet when we're done.

  1. 1

    Diamond-ground concrete

    The slab is mechanically ground to a profile the base coat can grip. Never acid-etched.

  2. 2

    Poly base and colour coat

    Bonds into the opened concrete. Where the moisture reading calls for it, this is a moisture vapor barrier base.

  3. 3

    Full-broadcast flake

    Colour and texture. Flake is broadcast to rejection into the colour coat, then scraped flat.

  4. 4

    UV-stable poly top coat

    The wear layer. Seals the flake, resists oil and chemicals, and won't yellow in the Florida sun.
